It's been designed to meet the rail industry's needs for testing heavy and bulky underbody components, its three possible configurations allow it to test large-scale specimens in general:
•1 — With "hanging" specimens: (such as the aforementioned underbody parts), utilizing a suspended frame and hydraulic shakers in a push-pull configuration (see photo), eliminating the need for expensive and heavy fixtures.
•2 — With specimens on a slip table: for traditional mounting with shakers in either push-pull or push-push configurations, depending on the dimensions of the specimen.
The suspended frame is designed for axis changes without removing the specimen, allowing for significant time savings during the test setup phase.
The TWINS further strengthens the competitiveness of our laboratory’s services—already the most extensive in Europe in the field of vibration—making it a benchmark for the rail industry and a versatile option for automotive and transport testing.
The TWINS is already operational and is complemented by a 160 kN 4-Poster for the same tests on the vertical axis.

Speech by CENTROTECNICA at InnoTesting 2025
We are thankful for the invitation to present our innovations at InnoTesting 2025, the German meeting that aims to take the state-of-the-art in vibration testing. We are extremely pleased that our research presented atIAC 2024 is attracting growing interest, supporting the contribution to innovation that is the core pillar of CENTROTECNICA's activities. Andrea Cambiaghi, the general manager, illustrated the following topics: - How the so called semi-defined-single-degree-of-freedom model can explain the influence of the shaker armature and slip table on the DUT and the antiresonances on armature or slip table. - The possibility to measure the shaker armature or slip table mechanical impedance to characterise the armature or the slip table.
- How a resonance search could be misleading.
- Relations between the DUT’s stress and the facility mechanical impedance.
- The difference between spurious cross acceleration and pitch rotation on the slip table.

CENTROTECNICA at IAC 24
We are happy for participating at IAC24 and to have had the great honor to unveil the results of the study carried out by our R&D department to a remarkably global and skilled audience:
“The influence of the vibration test facility in the resonance frequencies measured on a satellite structure, introducing facility mechanical impedance in FEA and facility”.
The innovations and benefits represented by the exhibited results find full application in Centrotecnica's new RT-SP slip table series for mechanical vibration testing.
