Combo Retrofit

OVERVIEW
Shakers are usually sold in three different configurations: base mounted, trunnion mounted or combined structure with a slip table.
“Base mounted” is just the shaker body mounted on 4 vibration insulators, this configuration is very common when the shaker is used in combination with a climatic chamber.
With“Trunnion mounted” is meant the shaker mounted on a frame with a mechanism that allows rotation of the shaker. This is useful for maintenance purposes and to connect the shaker to a slip table positioned together with the shaker on a seismic base.
Shaker sold in these configurations can be retrofitted, that is the operation of mounting the shaker body on a structure that includes rotation mechanism and a slip table.

APPLICATION
Centrotecnica created a simple combo structure that allows the easy installation of shakers different in type and size.

OPERATING PRINCIPLES
In the combo structure the shaker should be insulated from the ground when in vertical configuration and guided just on the horizontal axis when connected to the slip table.
This is realized by a combination of air springs and rollers.
The rotation is easy to perform manually by a screw and a wrench

MAIN ADVANTAGES
Retrofitting a shaker allows expansion of laboratory capabilities by adding a slip table to a shaker. The capability of testing in horizontal axis on a slip table is often an essential feature to perform vibration tests.

OVERVIEW
The Easy slip table is an innovative purely mechanical system for horizontal axis testing on small and low force electrodynamic shakers.

APPLICATION
The small shakers are usually manufactured not to be connected to a slip table. Any classical slip table would be too heavy to be driven by a small shaker at an appreciable acceleration level.
Centrotecnica developed this easy slip table by studying it to be as light as possible with no electrical or hydraulic mechanism.

OPERATING PRINCIPLES
The easy slip table is constrained to move in one direction by way of bearings positioned on the most effective dynamic positions.
Damping of the table is obtained by a special damping material installed with the constrained layer damping method.

MAIN ADVANTAGES
The easy sip table add 3 axis capabilities to a very small shaker.

Shaker rotation to connect it to the table is a long and delicate operation. Centrotecnica studied a suspension system for the shaker based on cantilevers and rods that allow the correct dynamic movement of the shaker both in vertical and horizontal configuration without any need of fixing screws, air springs or guidance. The movement from horizontal to vertical and vice versa is operated by pneumatic actuators just pressing one button.

The shaker always arrives to horizontal position perfectly aligned with the table ready to be screwed to it.

Slip Tables

Vibration tests require the application of the vibration along 3 orthogonal axis while the shaker vibrates just in one direction. To achieve this requirement it is possible to rotate the item to be tested and mount it on the shaker in different positions, but this is not always factual.

In fact, many items can’t be rotated because gravity would influence the test and modify the final result. For instance, big and heavy items have fixation points studied to resist to item weight in vertical direction and this direction can’t be changed; also items containing liquids or mobile parts can’t be rotated.

The optimal solution to face this problem is to rotate the shaker in horizontal position and connect a slip table. A slip table is a metal plate as light as possible, guided in horizontal direction by guidance’s opposing the minimum possible friction.

RT Table

OVERVIEW
Traditional slip tables are operated by oil pressurized under a magnesium plate.
Centrotecnica’s rt table is a robust and highly damped light alloy horizontal table guided by top technology bearings.

APPLICATION
The rt table represents a great simplification in the slip table that does not require any electrical or hydraulic power. For this reason it can be also considered as an energy saving item.

The RT can substitute or be substituted by a Centrotecnica’s VST because the dimensions are compatible.

The manufacture of the rt table became factual thanks to high technologies achieved by bearings manufacturer and Centrotecnica’s experience in light dynamic structure design and damping.

VST – Vacuum Slip Table

OVERVIEW
The vacuum slip table is a new Centrotecnica’s patented concept of making a slip table. The slip table is guided by balancing oil pressure and vacuum force.

APPLICATION
The vacuum concept represents an important new concept in slip table technologies that brings several advantages in the vibration field. The low friction and high damping of cross axis mode rank the VST at the top level in Slip Table performances.
The VST has been successfully used in several application fields like spacecraft, aviation, railways, automotive testing. It is particularly suitable for vibration testing in combination with a climatic chamber.
The VST can substitute or be substituted by Centrotecnica’s RT since the dimensions are compatible.

OPERATING PRINCIPLES
The VST consists in a magnesium plate sustained by oil flow. On the sustaining basement some vacuum pockets that constrain the table by a strong pressure are manufactured.
A special Centrotecnica’s patented vacuum pump creates an high vacuum level under the table and brings the oil back to the reservoir.
The oil is injected under the table in several positions with a constant flow condition. Constant flow implies a reactive pressure proportional to the force of the vacuum and dynamic loads. This force, which strongly reacts to inertial loads, improves significantly the natural damping effect of the oil to cross axis movements.
The yaw moment is taken by lateral bearing with a special mounting technique that allows thermal expansion of the table.
Nothing but the vacuum keeps the table against the basement.

MAIN ADVANTAGES
High damping of cross axis accelerations, low noise, low friction, and security switch on pitch moment overload of the table rank this table to a new position which was not present on the market before it.
